Josey Lane and Old Denton Road Intersection Improvements
Binkley & Barfield provided engineering design services to allow for additional capacity at the Josey Lane and Old Denton Road intersections on Hebron Road. The capacity improvements include designing and constructing additional left-turn and right-turn lanes. These roadway improvements impact the existing traffic signals which must be relocated to accommodate the future expansion while keeping the existing intersection operational. The signal design accommodates locating the proposed signal poles in locations which can be constructed prior to roadway improvements to keep the intersection up and working during construction and eliminate the need for temporary traffic signals.
The project includes an ultimate build out of all four corners at both intersections. As a result of this ultimate build out, the design includes shifting of the existing alignment towards the existing parkway in order to accommodate double left hand turns. The addition of right turn deceleration lanes includes design of median islands or reconstruction of existing islands. Water line relocation, drainage analysis, storm sewer adjustments, right of way acquisition and utility coordination are included in this design. The project also included a detailed traffic control plan, pavement markings, sequence of construction plan, landscaping adjustments, street light adjustments, sidewalk modifications, curb ramps and erosion control.
