BBI’s David Hamilton, PE, Gordon Alpha, and Ron Leverton attended the 11th Annual Have a H.E.A.R.T. Fundraising Luncheon on May 14th honoring The H.E.A.R.T. Program’s “Making Change, Changing Hearts” awardee, CenterPoint Energy President and CEO Scott M. Prochazka. Mr. Prochazka—who has been a proud supporter of The H.E.A.R.T. Program since 2006—has shown tremendous support in improving the lives of MVP H.E.A.R.T. Trainees and people with special needs or disabilities.
“CenterPoint Energy applauds The H.E.A.R.T. Program,” said Mr. Prochazka. “Its dedicated staff, board, volunteers, and donors are making a positive, lasting difference in the lives of low-income Houston adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With every program, partnership, and employment opportunity, H.E.A.R.T. is not only building a sense of pride and accomplishment in its trainees, the organization is also reinforcing the promise and potential they possess.”
The H.E.A.R.T. Program (Housing, Entrepreneurship And Readiness Training) was founded to create new opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to achieve their potential. H.E.A.R.T.‘s philosophy is that everyone deserves the opportunity to excel and experience the sense of pride and accomplishment that is achieved through education and employment. The H.E.A.R.T. Program therefore embraces its mission to promote structured independence for individuals with developmental disabilities by providing innovative education, training, housing and employment programs.
The luncheon was emceed by Sherry Williams of KHOU Channel 11 and included guest speakers Senator John Whitmire and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. Guests had the opportunity to support The H.E.A.R.T. Program by purchasing raffle tickets to win two first class, round-trip United Airlines tickets, which can be used to and from destinations within the 48 contiguous United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Central America, or the Caribbean. All proceeds benefit The H.E.A.R.T. Program initiatives.
